People Search on the Internet
There are many reasons why you are searching for a person or people. You may be doing genealogy
research or looking for long lost relatives or friends. Regardless of the reason, the Internet
is a great place to start your search.
Your people search may begin in different ways depending on the information you have about
the person you are searching for. Do you have a first and last name? Do you have a date of birth?
Do you have a mother's name? How about a father's name?
If you're searching for long lost relatives, don't forget to check out sites such as
Classmates.com
(www.classmates.com) and
Reunion.com (www.reunion.com).
These sites are especially helpful if you have an idea on when your relative might have graduated
from high school or college.
If you're looking for a birth relative and you have a little bit of information, don't rule out the
genealogy sites. And be sure to check out the message boards, who knows? Maybe your long lost family
is looking for you as well!
People Search Sites
There are lots of sites where you can search for people. But we've compiled a list of sites that we think are pretty helpful. Our list includes genealogy sites, reunion sites, and registries.
People Search Directories
We'd be remiss if we didn't mention online directories. These are a bit like
putting the telephone book on the Internet. You can search by name, and in some
cases by telephone number. Here are a few that we find particularly helpful:
Anywho (www.anywho.com)
Bigfoot (www.bigfoot.com)
Infospace (www.infospace.com)
Yahoo People Search (people.yahoo.com)
Have fun, and good luck with your people search!
